A few more pics...

Of my happy girl!

Sleeping through the big news stories on inauguration day 2009:

And just looking pretty :)

First nap in her crib!

Well, Friday was a milestone for Sweet Pea! I let her take a nap in HER room, in her crib!!! She did great! She loves looking at the mobil and the water/fish/lights music toy attached to the side of the crib. Of course I made like, 50 trips in there to make sure she was OK!!!

I'm Addicted to Digital Scrapbooking!!!

A while back I went with a friend to a scrapbook party and bought a book, pages, page protectors, etc. I consider myself a creative person, and enjoy things like that, so I thought this will be a breeze! I went to the scrapbook store and bought all kinds of papers, embelishments, adhesives, and so on, thinking I'm going to have all this time (and interest) to make Sweet Pea's first album. Wrong! Its been sitting in my room on the floor for months! Then, when I made this blog, I was looking for cute backgrounds and came across tons of "digital scrapbooking" sites. I looked into it and now I am totally hooked! Its right up my alley! Totally easy, fun, cheaper, faster...you get the idea. I plan on making a book for Sweet Pea's first year, and I think I'm doing pretty good so far. I am putting in journal pages where we can write entries on what was happening with the pictures on that page. I think she'll appreciate the time and thought put into it when she grows up :) I will print the 12x12 pages and slide them in the book pages in the page protectors. So, I didn't waste my money on the actual book, but I don't know what to do with the papers and other stuff I bought at the scrapbook store. Maybe I'll give it to a friend or put it on craigslist.

Here's a few pages out of her book so far!

Fun with the Taggie!

Anna from work gave Sweet Pea this really cool toy called a Taggie at my baby shower. I love watching Sweet Pea with it! Its soft and full of bright colors, and she loves to play with the "tags" on it. It is adorable!

Let's see what blue tastes like:

Mmmm....yellow...

All Played Out...

Too much playing can wear a girl out. Even the dog played too much!

One Down, Lots More to Go!!!

We're wrapping up Sweet Pea's first week with her mommy and daddy both working full time! She's very lucky because she has 2 grandma's that love her so much that they've agreed to watch her while her folks are working. Yesterday when I dropped her off I sent a casserole over so Nana wouldn't have to make dinner after watching Sweet Pea all day. Here's what I sent:

Layered Fiesta Casserole

It was really good, I'm adding it to my recipe box!!!

Completely Gratuitous

Here's a few recent pics of Miss Sweet Pea :)

Where's My Baby?

Now that I'm back at work, there are some old memories coming back from when I was pregnant and working. Last week was my first full week back, and as I went through my daily routines, I started to suddenly feel very "un-pregnant"! Before Sweet Pea was born, I had all these little things I would do that I felt like I was doing with the baby. For example, I used to listen to my ipod at work and imagine that Sweet Pea was listening, too. I even have a playlist called "chill" that had all kinds of soft music that I thought she would like, stuff like Norah Jones, Jack Johnson, Dave Mattews, John Mayer, etc. It was like a little bonding time with her before she was here. Now she's here and its wonderful, but, I'm at work without her now :( At least I have something to look forward to when I come home, right?

So, incase you're wondering what I looked like when I was so pregnant and working, here I am at 37 weeks - just 2 weeks before she was born (even the dog was amazed!):

What Does Sweet Pea Dream About?

So, what do you think Sweet Pea dreams about? I'll tell you what...eating!!! I think she looks so cute when she sleeps, and even cuter when she is obviously dreaming about eating :)

Cold, Cold Go Away!

Sweet Pea still has that nasty cold :( Last night she seemed like she felt much better, which makes mommy feel better, too! However, when we were ready to go to bed she was screaming so hard she could barely breath! Good thing Sweet Pea's daddy is so strong and intuitive because he knew the right things to do - walk around the house with her in her carseat - put her right to sleep! She slept pretty good, but this morning she woke up coughing again. Its just awful! We used the Vicks Humidifier and some Vicks Baby Rub.

I've read an old wives tale about rubbing Vicks on the soles of the feet to treat a cough. Has anyone ever tried this? I am very tempted to try rubbing the Vicks Baby Rub on Sweet Peas feet tonight in hopes that she doesn't wake up coughing again.

Baby Cold

Well, Sweet Pea has had a cold for almost a week now! We took her to the Dr. on New Year's Eve and he diagnosed it as an upper respiratory infection and said don't be surprised if it turns into a cold - which it did. He said it could last 10 - 14 days! In baby time thats a realllllly long time! Last night she was coughing and sneezing, I just felt so bad for her! I used "Little Noses" and the plunger to try to give her some relief.

I feel really bad when I use the "Little Noses" because she blinks really fast and coughs. I don't know if its really helping or not. I just hope she gets better soon!

Fun Toys!

I came across a site with some really cool toys for babies and toddlers! I have been worried that the only toy choices for Sweet Pea are going to be "Pretty Pretty Princess", "Suzie Homemaker", or "Disney Skank" (if you've ever heard my opinion on Miley Cyrus this Disney reference will make much more sense).

For some reason when I look at Sweet Pea I imagine her being some sort of scientist when she grows up. She just looks so smart! Maybe I just think that because I'm her mommy, but, I doubt it!

Anyway, I found a promising website with some really neat toys that I plan on purchasing for Sweet Pea when its time to give her a gift. Its called FatBrainToys and has TONS of cool stuff to look at! One of my favs so far is the Bilibo, here's what the website describes it as:

"Magically attractive and deceptively simple, Bilibo's iconic shell shape and bright colors prove immediately appealing to young children. Developed by Swiss designer Alex Hochstrasser in collaboration with childhood development experts, Bilibo's unique form arouses curiosity, stimulates the senses, engages the imagination, and encourages creativity."

Ringing in 2009

We spent my birthday and New Years Eve at my mom's house. Sweet Pea looks pretty comfy on Nana's shoulder, doesn't she? Nanas have the best shoulders to sleep on!Then some friends came over to visit who haven't seen Sweet Pea in a while, we got a really cute picture of Sweet Pea and and her new friend!

And thank you Kathy and Stephanie for the Baby Bumbo! Sweet Pea can sit in it! It won't be long until she's sitting on her own! Julie also gave Sweet Pea a really neat play pad that has all kinds of bells and whistles, I'll have to get a pic soon!

Baby's First Christmas

Here are a few pics from Christmas. Sweet Pea's grandma on her daddy's side gave her this pink play pad. She loves it! She just coo's and looks around when we put her in there. I'll have to get a video of it. She's got a cousin who is just about 7 weeks older than she is and I think they're going to have lots of fun together as they grow up!

Dinner with Great Grandma

Well last night we went out to dinner with Sweet Pea and her Great Grandma to celebrate "GG's" birthday. We took her to her favorite Greek restaurant. Sweet Pea was the entertainment for the entire restaurant! We walked by an older couple and the woman commented on how cute Sweet Pea was and asked what her name is. When her daddy said her name, the woman goes, "Thats my name!" it was really cute how excited she was to have the same name as the baby.

A Wee Bit of Heaven

A wee bit of heaven

Drifted down from above

A handful of happiness

A heartful of love

A mystery of life

So sacred and so sweet

The giver of joy

So deep and complete.

Precious and priceless

So lovable too

The world's sweetest miracle

Baby, it's you.
